Carry On tells the poignant story of Avin, a young Kurdish woman navigating the profound transition from Iran to the United States, a journey that delves far deeper than a simple relocation across borders. Inspired by the director and animator’s personal experience of immigration, the film explores the heavy, invisible weight of displacement—a burden composed of stories, memories, and ancestral connections that no suitcase can truly hold. For Avin, as for so many young women seeking freedom and peace, the act of leaving is an act of shedding; the objects left behind are not merely things, but sacred vessels of a sensory world—the taste of a favorite beverage, the specific scent of home, and the familiar light of a childhood street—that cannot be transported. This narrative captures the universal ache of the immigrant experience, where the constant, nagging question "Have I packed everything?" serves as a metaphor for the fear of losing one’s identity while reaching for a better future. Ultimately, Carry On is a tribute to the resilience of the human spirit, acknowledging that while we must leave our physical worlds behind, the stories of where we came from continue to shape every step of the journey forward.

Production on this animation began in 2023, evolving from initial sketches and storyboards into a dedicated 2D hand-drawn project. By utilizing a frame-by-frame rotoscoping technique, the film aims to capture a deeply personal atmosphere that feels like flipping through a private sketchbook of memories. This aesthetic choice is further enhanced by a planned watercolor texture, designed to give the final visuals a dreamy, ethereal quality that blurs the line between reality and reflection. Currently, the animation phase is one-third complete and moving forward steadily as we continue to refine the intricate details of each frame.
